The day after we got back from Nauvoo, I flew down to Louisiana to visit my grandchildren. My daughter-in-law had a new baby at the beginning of July. Meanwhile my son was required to work several 90-hour weeks shortly after the baby was born. With two other small children to take care of, she definitely needed some help. Her mom came for three weeks and then I came for one week.
I enjoyed seeing my grandchildren and getting a little break from my own house and children. We did a few things like swimming at the neighborhood pool, visiting a children's museum, going to the library, and going to Costco (about 30 minutes away). But mostly I stayed around the house, keeping the kids entertained and helping out with cooking and cleaning and unhappy babies.
After the week, it was time to say goodbye. Fortunately we weren't too sad because my son and his family were coming out to visit the very next week. I'm thankful to my husband for taking care of things at home so I could come!
