My husband is somewhat of an adventurer. He wanted our youngest two girls to learn how to rappel so we went this last week. The night before we went, he had them rappel from a big tree in our backyard. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of that.
The next day I took our youngest two plus their two cousins the same age and he met us at Rock Canyon (driving from work). My sister-in-law had responded to the invitation with, "They would love that." On the way, her girls had asked, What's rappelling? We hiked up to "The Kitchen". It was a warm day and I was a little worried about it being too hot but fortunately we were able to sit in the shade while we waited. While they were getting ready, a mountain goat came to see what we were doing. That was fun to see.
First came my 12-year-old niece. The hardest part was going over the edge:
Unfortunately, when she finished, Camille had a bathroom problem and I had to take her home. So we missed out on rappelling. (Camille wasn't too sad about that). But the others were able to go:
