When I was growing up, my mother kept a family history. We wrote in it once a week, usually on Sundays as part of family council. So when Scott and I started our family, we started keeping a family history too. It's a great resource to see what happens from year to year. Today I looked at our family history to see what we have done for the last several 4th of July holidays. We almost always have some type of family barbecue but our morning activity has varied somewhat:
David and Jan biked down to Provo and saved our family a spot to watch the big parade. Lincoln and Garrett marched with the Orem High marching band. I stayed home with Camille because she had just gotten her kidney transplant and we were supposed to avoid crowds. Everett was the photographer.
We went on a hike to Stewart Falls. Talmage (age 10) got lost at the very end but we found him. Talmage and Everett ran through the falls.
We rode our bikes from Vivian Park to our house. Everett joined Bruce and his family in their traditional ride to Utah Lake from Canyon Glen Park.
We went on a hike to Stewart Falls.
We had a short family reunion at Heber Valley Camp. 4th of July was on a Saturday and we spent some time in the morning boating at the lake up there.
We were at the Hill Cumorah Pageant--not much of a celebration.
We didn't write down what we did that morning. Maybe nothing since it was the summer of 2 weddings, Grandpa and Grandma's 50th, and our trip to Europe. We had a barbecue at our house that night with the relatives. Did we go on a hike with Jan and Sallie?
We rode our bikes to Canyon Glen Park and back. Then we went swimming in the afternoon.
Scott and I were recovering from our trip to Alaska.
We rode our bikes from our house down to Utah Lake.
We rode our bikes from Vivian Park to our house.
Looks like the bike rides are becoming the more popular 4th of July activity!
