From Scott: Some of us went canyoneering Friday and Saturday. On Friday evening, we explored the Middle Fork of Maidenwater Canyon ( https://www.roadtripryan.com/go/t/utah/north-wash/middlemaidenwater ). It's in the North Wash area and whatever water might flow in this riverbed drains into Lake Powell. But I've never seen any water in it. They say that this area of Utah has been especially dry this winter.  The approach took us just over an hour, and the canyon itself took another two hours. They say that the entire canyon can be down-climbed -- and we did a lot of down-climbing -- but we enjoyed rappelling a few of the trickier spots. We started hiking close to 6 pm. Partway through the canyon, the sun set and we finished in the dark. It was a pretty cool experience. The dark tunnel that runs under the Hwy 276 at the end is a highlight.  I've been thinking a lot about Easter lately and how we can better prepare for it and make it a bigger holiday since it really should be the most significant holiday according to our religious beliefs. Jesus Christ's Atonement and Resurrection are the centerpiece and that should make Easter HUGE! I definitely don't want Easter to become like Christmas with all the gift-giving obligations (Christmas is way too much work, especially for moms) but I would like the Easter season to be frequently in our minds and hearts instead of the afterthought it sometimes feels like. So after seeing some ideas about Easter advent calendars, I decided to come up with one and here it is. March 6, 2011 [Scott] We had stake conference. The Judds are headed to Ghana this summer to preside over the mission there. Susanna and Talmage played in the piano festival yesterday, earning a 38 and 39 and moving on to the playoffs. I ran 20 miles last week. Camille had an appointment in SLC. Her creatinine is 4.2. She also visited the eye doctor and is only slightly near-sighted. Lincoln presented in the district science fair. He measured O2 saturations when people held their breath for 30 seconds. Paula had a bladder ultrasound that was normal (prep for kidney donation). Camille's doctors are relaxing all tissue matching considerations for the transplant. Susanna had activity days. Garrett took the ACT on Tuesday. All juniors at OHS did it that day. Jan played in a Jazz Ensemble concert Friday night. We all went to Macy's for soft-serve ice cream yesterday. Feb. 9, 2014 [Paula] Our triumphant missionary, Elder Jan Bergeson came home on Friday night. His flight was delayed so we didn't get home from the airport until almost midnight. Fortunately we could sleep in, the next day. Jan was up from 6pm Thursday night until 12:30am Saturday morning. A few friends/roommates from his freshman year were also at the airport along with David and Stephanie, Grandma Bergeson, and us. Camille got an ear infection on Friday and is back on antibiotics. Everett lost a game and won a game in Bball yesterday. I went to parent-teacher conferences for Mindy and Camille and they're both doing well. Mindy has improved her behavior. Yesterday Scott and Paula took Jan to the temple and then we went out to eat with David and Stephanie at the Olive Garden. Susanna had New Beginnings. Talmage played a lot in the snow.
