Family History March 6, 2011 - March 27, 2011

March 6, 2011 [Scott]

We had stake conference. The Judds are headed to Ghana this summer to preside over the mission there. Susanna and Talmage played in the piano festival yesterday, earning a 38 and 39 and moving on to the playoffs. I ran 20 miles last week. Camille had an appointment in SLC. Her creatinine is 4.2. She also visited the eye doctor and is only slightly near-sighted. Lincoln presented in the district science fair. He measured O2 saturations when people held their breath for 30 seconds. Paula had a bladder ultrasound that was normal (prep for kidney donation). Camille's doctors are relaxing all tissue matching considerations for the transplant. Susanna had activity days. Garrett took the ACT on Tuesday. All juniors at OHS did it that day. Jan played in a Jazz Ensemble concert Friday night. We all went to Macy's for soft-serve ice cream yesterday. Lincoln and Everett got Kong Kones which were more enormous than we imagined. Everett couldn't finish his. But Mindy got a little cone and ate the entire thing--she's never finished a cone before in her life. Mindy and Susanna had eye appts. and have good vision. Paula started an Excel class at BYU so she can become a computer guru.

Lincoln placed 2nd in the Utah Baroque Ensemble's solo competition and won $350. We put 466 additional scanners in our basement during a rain/sleet/snow storm Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Everett and Lincoln played in a CVJH band concert Wednesday night. Garrett and the OHS band played in a festival at Jordan HS. Everett and the concert band were in a festival on Friday. Paula taught the Personal Fitness merit badge at the stake powwow on Saturday. Garrett, Lincoln, and Everett also attended. Lincoln earned fingerprinting with partials on camping and family life. Garrett has partials on personal management, family life, and golf. Everett earned family life with partials on golf, coin collecting, and citizenship in the community. I helped my mother put together a picnic table. Su and T had their honors playoffs and advanced to the honors recital, $5 each. Camille loves school and plays with her friends Eva and Marianna. Mindy still loves her tumbling class.

March 20, 2011 [Scott]

Paula attended the stake provident living conference Friday night and Saturday morning and enjoyed presentations by Pres. Judd, Kari Herrmann, and a person on being organized. On Friday night, Talmage and I went to a Utah Flash basketball game. T had 2 free tickets and he was selected to participate in a time-out game and earned $10. Everett missed a lot of school last week with history fair, job shadowing, talent show and a snow make-up day. Lincoln helped organize a little band that performed in the CVJH talent show. Ev played in it too. Su and T played in the honors recital Wednesday. Mindy was in the 1st grade program for Presidents' Day. On Monday night for FHE we had a game night and played scattergories, apples to apples, qwirkle, and Boggle. Grandma and Grandpa Hansen came for part of it. Monday morning, G, L, and E played an 18-hole round of golf to finish the golf merit badge. It took 5 hours and it was cold.

Garrett ran in his first track meet. He ran the 400 in 59.1 sec. and the 300m hurdles in 49.1 about 5 minutes later. Camille is still throwing up a lot but continues to become more verbal. Paula helped with Reality Town at the junior high. Lincoln was a video game programmer and his overall impression was that Reality Town was kind of boring because it went too long and wasn't that fun and nothing really exciting happened. Kind of like being an adult! Mindy lost her 2nd bottom tooth last night. Talmage is missing his top 4 front teeth.

March 27, 2011 [Scott]

In keeping with the lost tooth theme, Camille lost her first tooth this week. It was one of her top front teeth. She was playing with Everett and hit her tooth on his bed post and it fell out. (Very sad.) Garrett got a 32 on the ACT, placing him in the 99th percentile in UT. He's going to take it again in June. Lincoln had a bunch of friends over last night. They ate pizza and filmed funny things so they could rewind them and play them in reverse. Then they went out for ice cream and played mission dot dot and got very wet.

Everett has been volunteering at the library for his Citizenship in the Community merit badge. He has dusted shelves, removed stickers, filed and sorted books. Su went with Mom to IKEA. Camille is being tested to see if she has low antibody A titers. If the test is good, then maybe Paula can donate a kidney to Camille.

Mindy had a bunch of tests to check for metabolic function. She has some extra fat in her stool, suggesting possible pancreatic dysfunction. Mindy fell off the monkey bars at school and hurt her arm. She wore a splint all week. Talmage's wart on his ankle is too large for removal. He's supposed to file it down for a week. He is in the 30th percentile for weight and 45th for height. Lincoln went to the doctor for a physical. He is 60th for weight, 70th for height. Susanna lost her expander this week. She was walking home from school and it was bugging her and suddenly she felt this weight in her mouth. One of the brackets broke. She is supposed to get it removed tomorrow.

The glass bowl covering Everett's light fell again and broke into a billion pieces. Late that night, his lamp blew up.

Hansen Family Reunion 2024, Thursday afternoon

For lunch on Thursday, Lauren and Kurt made Cafe Rio which was delicious.  On Thursday afternoon, we had free time at the lake. Heidi and Aaron rented a pontoon boat and took people out for rides. This was very popular. Some of us went on the kayaks and/or swimming or just hung out on the beach.

2024 Hansen Family Reunion, Wednesday

Recently we had another Hansen Family Reunion at Bear Lake. We've been having these destination reunions since 2008. There were about 70 of us in attendance. Bruce and Michelle organized the activities and did a good job. I enjoyed myself! Hopefully lots of other people did too. We showed up on Wednesday afternoon and enjoyed a taco salad dinner, served by Neil and Kristie's family. We also worked on two mixer games:  a word search with the names of all 100 Hansen family members as well as a Bingo card that involved finding people with different attributes like recent high school graduation, birthdays in certain months, etc. The word search was definitely the most popular. Also popular was playing Nine-Square and Sandy Pickle (a cross between pickle ball and badminton). Thys and Katrina might have won! After dinner, we had an FHE activity/lesson. Liz had made a book with stories of the first ancestors to join the church. She had selected different stories for us to act out in g...
