Scott and I are celebrating our 37th anniversary in a week so, in a burst of planning ahead, we went away this last weekend to celebrate. First, we drove to Syracuse to go to the temple there. It's a new temple. It reminded us of the Lindon temple which will be opening the week after our anniversary.
After the temple, we went down the road to eat at the "Hug-hes Cafe". I ordered the prime rib special with salad and green beans and Scott ordered the Braised Short Ribs that came with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was a lot of food and reasonably well-cooked. After dinner, we drove to Ogden Canyon and stayed at a place called "Alaskan Inn and Spa" which was over-priced for the quality of room we got. However, we enjoyed our time together there. The next morning, they brought us the breakfasts we selected that came with the room and then we drove to hike the Waterfall Canyon Trail. Here are some pictures from the hike. The destination waterfall was pretty spectacular. The hike was challenging, especially in the spots where the trail seemed to be overtaken by rocks or water or both. I probably wouldn't do it again but it was definitely worth doing once. The weather was somewhat chilly the previous few days and we saw ice in the water and some snow. The temperature was pretty comfortable during the hike. The cairn to my right lets you know you've arrived at the waterfall in case you didn't notice it in front of you.
It was a short trip but very fun. Happy 37th anniversary to us!
