Another School Year Ends

It's that crazy time of year when there are millions of concerts, programs, graduations, etc. etc.  Here are a few things we've been doing: Everett had his last band concert of his high school career.  We've had a child in a high school band class for the last 11 years continuously, 12 years if you count 9th grade as high school.  But none of the younger children play a band instrument currently, so it's the end of an era.  Don't ask me why he's wearing that outfit.  He had something to do for the percussion ensemble that involved looking like a cowboy.  He's with his friend Noah. Mindy had her last ballroom dance performance.  She was so cute up there.  It's been a really good thing for her and we hope to continue it next year. Lincoln sent us this picture in his last email.  I guess it wasn't a great week for missionary work so he sent us this sad little picture.  But he's actually doing fine.  Today is his birthday--he's

Losing My Phone

On my way home from Louisiana, I had a layover in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.  I went to the bathroom and left my phone there.  After about ten minutes I discovered it was missing, so I immediately went back and looked for it.  No phone.  I really didn't know what to do, so I went to my gate where my flight would soon be boarding and told the agent I lost it.  She called my phone on her  phone but no one answered. Fortunately I had made a friend on my previous flight who was also on my next flight and she let me use her phone to call my husband...who didn't answer (he can be hard to contact sometimes).  I texted him that I had lost my phone.  Then I called Sprint to cancel my service.  By this time, we were sitting on the airplane just about to leave. Meanwhile, someone had found my phone and turned it in to an airport employee.  This employee tried to contact me by calling my home (Camille answered) and then by calling my husband (no answer).  So he turned it into Lost

27 Years!

A few weeks ago, Scott and I celebrated our 27th anniversary.  Here's what we did: I picked Scott up at work on Friday about noon and then we drove to Monticello, Utah.  It's about 4 hours away.  It's a very small town but the reason we went was to attend the temple there.  We're trying to go to all the temples in Utah; I think there are 15.  We just have Vernal left. We attended a session and then we went out to dinner at the HorseHead Grill.  It's definitely a cowboy place. We stayed that night at the Inn at the Canyons which I would visit again. I wanted to stay at a bed-and-breakfast place but I waited too long to make our reservation.   In the morning it was quite chilly, 28 degrees.  Meanwhile it was 46 degrees in Moab, a mere 50 miles away.  The elevation difference is about 3000 feet so perhaps that explains the temperatures.  Fortunately we had planned on going to Moab on Saturday. We drove to Negro Bill Canyon which is right next to the Colorado

Visitin' Loosiana

Recently I got to go visit my son and daughter-in-law in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  I arrived on Thursday evening, the day they closed on their house.  On Friday, the moving truck showed up and unloaded all their stuff.  We spent the rest of that day and Saturday unpacking.  I helped however I could:  taking care of the two-year-old and the baby, unpacking, cooking, cleaning up, etc.  On Saturday night, my son and his wife went on a date while I babysat for them. Sunday we went to church in their new ward and my son blessed their baby.  I was really glad to be there for that. I also enjoyed the Sunday School where I listened to the teacher give the lesson in his very strong Southern accent.  He talked about "da po' sol" (poor soil) in "Da Allegor of de Olive Tree".  He did a good job. One of the women was wearing a hat.  My daughter-in-law said she went to Sears and saw a bunch of hats for sale like it is a perfectly normal accessory!
