Brazos Bend State Park

Last weekend we went to Texas to see our son and his fiance get married in the Houston Texas LDS temple. The day before, we enjoyed being with our whole family except our missionary.  We traveled out to Brazos Bend State Park so we could see some alligators and other wildlife including lots of herons and egrets.  It might be a little hard to see the alligators in the pictures but we saw several lurking in the water.

Lincoln and MiCayla

I just realized that I neglected to blog about Lincoln and MiCayla!  Back in February, they got engaged!  They started dating in August when Lincoln got back from his mission.  They were both missionaries in Edmonton, Canada and they were in the same district for a little while.  They agreed to start writing when she went home about 9 months before he did.  Then when Lincoln got home in August they started dating.  They are both students and happened to live not too far apart. Lincoln went to Texas to meet her family at Christmastime and everything went well... Then in February they got officially engaged.  They are getting married this month in Texas.  Here are some bridals that were taken here before they both went to Texas.  We're happy for them and wish them an eternity of happiness together!

Garrett and AnnaSue

My son Garrett and his girlfriend, AnnaSue Larsen, got engaged a few weeks ago!  They met while teaching at the Missionary Training Center.  Garrett teaches Russia which he learned on his mission in Ukraine and AnnaSue teaches Latvian which she learned while serving in Latvia (where Garrett's older brother also served). They met last summer but didn't start dating until the beginning of December.  They are both BYU students--winter semester was a hard one for AnnaSue because she got quite sick for about 5 weeks and had to change a few classes so she could keep up and keep her scholarship.  But their relationship survived the illness and then they got engaged at the very end of April while visiting her family in Idaho. They are getting married at the end of June in the Boise temple.  They wanted to get married then before her brother left on his mission and before her sister moved far away.  So my two boys closest in age--17 months apart--are getting married less tha

Graduation!

My son Jan and his wife Sallie graduated last week from BYU.  We attended their convocation in the Marriott Center.  It was long since there were so many names to be read (800 maybe?) but we enjoyed talking to Sallie's parents while we waited for Jan's and Sallie's brief moments of glory. Jan graduated with a bachelor's in Computer Engineering--he actually finished last June and started working full-time at Qualtrix.  Sallie graduated with a bachelor's in Family Science.  She is going to start looking for a full-time job this summer. After the graduation, we hosted a dinner for them at our house with Sallie's parents and her sister and husband.  The weather was quite cold and windy so we spent most of our time inside.  Despite the weather, it was a good day. This is their friend Charlie Palfreyman.  He introduced Jan and Sallie when Jan became his roommate and Sallie lived nearby in their ward.  Charlie is also Jan's uncle-in-law (my brot
