Family History Oct. 5, 2008-Nov. 30, 2008

Oct. 5, 2008 (written by Paula) Garrett got his cast off. Susanna had her last soccer game. She scored 3 goals in the season. We attended the Foothill Fall Festival. Garrett finished his bug collection of 35 bugs and 11 orders. Jan had 2 marching band performances this last week. Lincoln started attending Math Counts. He almost got into jazz band on piano but a 9th grader won. He's going to do "auxiliary." Everett did his Books project on Greek legends. Our little Camille is in the hospital right now and we miss her. She had her G tube surgery on Wednesday. It went well and she seemed to be recovering quickly but early Thursday morning her breathing became very labored and she ended up back in the PICU on a ventilator. She is still on the ventilator and slowly improving. We're not sure exactly why she's having problems except that I believe this has been building up for a long time and she ran out of reserves after the surgery. We hope she can come home to us soo

Five Ways to Celebrate a Christ-Centered Easter

Last night I did a presentation for our Relief Society on activities to help make our Easter celebrations more centered on Christ. Here are my top five ideas with a bonus: 1. Watch Lamb of God: The Concert Film by Rob Gardner, DVD, 2021. Watch for free on BYUTV: https://www.byutv.org/a47204d9-b33f-4cfb-b14c-6ec17c75dde8/lamb-of-god:-the-concert-film?player-open=true&content-id=a47204d9-b33f-4cfb-b14c-6ec17c75dde8 Highly recommended! 2. Jerusalem Dinner like the one Jesus may have eaten (ie. naan bread, cheese, olives, dates, grapes, raisins, cucumbers, honey, fish). Sit on the floor, dress in costumes. Very memorable. https://www.helpingofhappiness.com/as-the-homemaker/2018/3/28/jerusalem-dinner-and-other-holy-week-traditions 3.  Empty Tomb Rolls:  https://www.northcarolinacharm.com/empty-tomb-resurrection-rolls/  This website has the story. I have to confess I have not actually made these rolls myself but someone else made them for our meeting and they tasted pretty good. They a

Christmastime Videos from 2010, Part II

Here are some videos from Christmas 2010. I'm not sure why I look so serious in these videos but maybe it was because I was all business and wanted to get this done. Be sure to catch the video at the end!

Christmastime Videos from 2010, Part 1

When we were in Germany, our neighbor was a woman named Waltraud Czadek and she absolutely loved our children, especially Mindy. She didn't have any grandchildren yet and had no prospects in the immediate future and she really longed for grandchildren. She did many kind things for our family and our children were her surrogate grandchildren while we were there. We wanted to stay connected with her so we tried to make videos for her. We made some in December 2010 and I'm not sure if she ever got the DVD we sent her to work but I was happy to discover these and put them on my blog. There are 9 videos so I'm splitting them up.

Family History August 3, 2008-Sept. 21, 2008

August 3, 2008 (Paula) Our Best and Worst for Vacation Best: 1. Playing in sand and water at the beach. 2. Water football 3. Going out on canoe 4. Seeing the stars 5. Swamping the canoe 6. Raspberry shakes 7. Hike 8. Campfires and nice hot shmoes Worst: 1. Fridge in the trailer stopped working on Wednesday. 2. Basement flooding Tuesday night (back at home) 3. Sunburns 4. Driving, esp. with the rented canoe shifting constantly on our van roof 5. Heat 6. David had to stay home and work (and saved the basement) 7. Camille's bad sleeping We went to Bear Lake and camped in a trailer (and one tent) from Monday to Friday. The basement got flooded while we were gone thanks to a broken sprinkler pipe. August 10, 2008 (Lincoln) The past week Garrett and I were at Scout camp and 10 Scouts (all of Troop 892) got 27 merit badges altogether. Garrett got Environmental Science, Orienteering, and Canoeing, with a partial for Weather. I got Environmental Science, Archery, Pioneering, and Rowing. Ou
