Visiting the hospital where Jan and Garrett were born Visiting our old neighbors in Maryland  July 23, 2000 [Paula] We went on vacation from June 18-July 12th! Here are the highlights: Scott: liked everything except the driving. Paula: liked seeing old friends and church history sites. Didn't like staying in small motels. David:  liked Aunt Sally's house in Rapid City and the Wilson's in Madison. Didn't like driving and salty ocean water Jan:  liked visiting Chris Nagle and the beach. Didn't like driving home. Garrett:  liked visiting Joe, Chris and the beach, as well as Aunt Sally's house and Nerf guns. Lincoln:  liked everything! (He did get sick for a few days.) The boys have already forgotten a lot of what we did. We visited Independence, Liberty Jail, Adam-ondi-Ahman and Far West in Missouri. We visited Carthage and Nauvoo in Illinois, then Kirtland in Ohio. We were in Maryland for 2 weeks while Scott worked at NIST, visiting the beach in Delaware and lots ...

Since spring break for our children usually comes while Scott is still finishing up the semester at BYU and has classes to teach, our travel is limited. This year, we decided to leave on Friday morning and go to Arches in the afternoon. It had been some years since we last went and we wanted to hike the Delicate Arch. The weather was not very warm that week unfortunately but we were able to hike like we wanted to. Arches was prettier than we remembered and has some very impressive stone structures. The iconic Arch: On the way there, we saw the results of the snowstorm the day before which we don't often see in this dry area. We were worried it would rain on us but thankfully it didn't. After Arches, we went into Moab and checked into our hotel and then ate at a Mexican restaurant for dinner. The next day, we did a couple of other little hikes.  Happy birthday to David! I had a hard time finding good pictures of David from this time period of 12-14 years old. We got a digital camera not long before he turned 15 so pictures weren't as plentiful. The other challenge was we had 7 children and we tended to take a lot more pictures of the little kids, not so many of the older ones. Sorry, David! Here he is when he was ordained to office of deacon: This was David's Primary class when he was 12, which I taught. He was the only boy in the class but he was a good sport. David was an enthusiastic pumpkin carver--maybe he still is: Bergeson Family Band's first public performance at a Cub Scout Pack Meeting: With baby brother Talmage, David age 12.
